Day 3: Re:Born / Mind the Body / Ballet Russe
Start: 15:30 | Locatie: Haltheater and Krijn Boon Studio
Discover a new generation of choreographers during Moving Futures Festival! On this third and last day of the Rotterdam edition, you will see an exciting program with film, humour and a transformation of classical ballet. We will close the festival off with some dancing with choreographer Connor Schumacher!
We start at 15:30h in the Haltheater with a lecture performance. In this short lecture performance, choreographer Annemijn Rijk and dancer Nicole van den Berg explain the choreography of their film Re:Born with physical examples. The makers take you along on their journey from the first concept to the final film. How does a dance maker directs the eye of the viewer? And how does film influence our approach to dance?
After the lecture performance we continue the program in the Krijn Boon Studio with exciting performances and a dance film.
Mind the body – Anton van der Sluis
Mind the Body is a humorous physical solo performance by mime performer Anton van der Sluis about the separation and the connection between the head and the body. What is a body without a head to control it?
Dansfilm: Re:born
How do you stand up if you are thrown into life so hard? How do you proceed if entering the world happens so unexpectedly? How do you get back on your feet if you don’t know how to get your body together? Re: Born by Annemijn Rijk is about a force that must be found and felt in every fibre. It is about the strength that is needed to get up and believe (again) in the body.
Ballet Russe – Joseph Simon
Joseph Simon (1989) is a choreographer associated with Dansateliers. Ballet Russe is a new chapter in his series Ballet Fantasies. He is fascinated by how and if ballet can still be transformed to capture our zeitgeist.
Dance before you go!
After a day of dance, you may be inspired to dance for yourself. Connor Schumacher will take you along an easy work-out in which we practice how to be a human. Movement is progress, do join!
