Dancing Museums II – Choreographing Attention webinar

Fri 2 Jul | 11:00

Dancing Museums is a research project taking place in several cities around Europe. Museums, dance organizations and artists collaborate to explore the notion of movement and choreography in the museum building. To establish new connections with the audiences and broaden their experience of the arts. Partners in this project Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Dansateliers Rotterdam and choreographer Ingrid Berger Myhre present the public webinar Dancing Museums: Choreographing Attention, to give an insight into the project.

An introduction on and brief history of the Dancing Museums project is given by Betsy Gregory, followed by a conversation between dramaturg Monica Gillette and choreographer Ingrid Berger Myhre:

“A conversation on shifting awareness and choreographing attention. The talk will retrace Ingrid’s research throughout the project, creating a parcours, making several stops (landmarks) along the way. Ingrid is using choreography as a tool to guide attention, in order to address not simply what we watch, but how we see. With a playful touch she often works with language as framing device to propose curious perspectives and to practice critical thinking.”

Betsy Gregory has been working in the field of dance for forty years. As a performer, teacher, rehearsal director, programmer, producer, mentor and artistic director. She acts as an artists’ mentor for Dancing Museums.

Choreographer Ingrid Berger Myhre has developed her work as associate artist at Dansateliers Rotterdam since 2015. Her curiosity for how we read and understand dance drives her choreographic thinking.

Monica Gillette is a dramaturg and choreographer, with expertise in artist driven networks, community engaged projects and transdisciplinary research. As a dramaturg she has accompanied the EU funded projects Migrant Bodies – Moving Borders, Empowering Dance and Dancing Museums – The Democracy of Beings.
