Looking back: HBS Fest

In the weekend of September 24th and 25th & October 1st & 2nd the HBS, an old schoolbuilding in the center city of Rotterdam, opened her doors to host visitors on a treasure hunt through the monumental building with dance, spoken word and music.

The audience was invited to discover dance solos in the former gym, or in the beautiful stairways, wander through the hallways looking for the musicians and listen in on a concert in the New Grounds podium.

‘HBS-FEST!’ is an initiative of Dansateliers in collaboration with New Grounds and the Doelenensemble. It was for the first time they collaboratively presented a programme with contributions by amongst others: Ian Yves Ancheta, Courtney May Robertson, Dane Badal, Lin An Phoa, Los Paja Brava, Rotterdam Electronic Improvised Orchestra, Peter-Jan Wagemans.

Spoken word artist Lin An Phoa recited from her own work and also reflected on Courtney May Robertsons’ solo The pleasure of stepping off a horse when it’s moving at full speed’. Listen here to her contribution with the title: De-tempering. [in Dutch]
