Joseph Simon creates a new work for Danslokaal

Choreographer Joseph Simon will create a new work for the seventh edition of  Danslokaal in 2019. In this talent development project, young artists are invited to develop new work together with the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst. Dansateliers and Korzo are creative partners in the project and both invite makers connected to their houses. Conny Janssen herself also selects a choreographer, either from her own company, or someone who drew her attention in the field.

Joseph sees his partaking as a chance to learn a lot. ‘As a maker and artistic process leader, creating for and with the dancers of Conny Janssen will offer me a new experience and the opportunity to develop my communication skills as a maker. The dancers of Conny Janssen are very diverse and I’m curious how this will influence my way of working between different dance languages and cultures.’

Within the professional context of the company, the  makers will be able to work on the development of their own artistic signature. The result is a surprising dance evening with three new pieces, created for and with the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst.

After a series of performances in Rotterdam in August, Danslokaal will tour through the Netherlands.
