Dovydas Strimaitis (b. 1997) is a Lithuanian contemporary dance artist, living and working between France and Belgium. At the age of 12, Strimaitis started training in various dance styles, including line dancing, show dance, and eventually contemporary dance. Strimaitis started creating his choreographic oeuvre already at Codarts. During his studies, he presented a solo “Pendulum” (2018) and his graduation piece “Still Waiting” (2018), which received the highest possible evaluation in the university and was presented at Theater Rotterdam in Rotterdam and at Korzo in The Hague. From 2019 to 2022, Strimaitis was a dancer at The National Ballet of Marseille, under the direction of La Horde.
In 2022, Strimaitis’ work “Hairy” has been selected among 18 finalists in Danse élargie competition, co organized by Boris Charmatz and Théâtre de la Ville. The 10-minute version premiered in June 2022 at the Espace Cardin in Paris. A 20-minute version of the piece will be part of the young choreographers’ platform DANSLOKAAL10 in the Netherlands, co-produced by Conny Janssen Danst, Dansateliers, and Korzo. This version will premiere in October 2022 and will be followed by the Dutch tour.
