Mona De Weerdt and Valerie Wehrens are Dramaturgs in Residence 2026 at Dansateliers Rotterdam. During their residency, they worked on their research project titled Wandering Dramaturgies.
During their research, Mona and Valerie discovered that, although dramaturgical thinking takes place as a process involving many people, the profession of dramaturg—especially in dance—is generally a solitary and often lonely one. Dramaturgs rarely have the opportunity to exchange practical insights with their colleagues. As a result, it often remains difficult to understand how dramaturgical knowledge contributes to artistic work processes.
That is why Mona and Valerie are inviting dramaturgs and those working in dramaturgical roles to DRAMATURGS AT WORK: a two-day gathering designed to foster encounters, exchange, and networking; to share observations, methods, and tools; and to highlight the diversity of dramaturgical practices and knowledge.
For this gathering, you’ll meet twice with a group of dramaturgs at Dansateliers. Each workday begins with a warm-up and three 90-minute practical presentations by various speakers. More details about the program will be shared after you sign up for the work meetings.

Your ticket includes admission for both working days and dinner on October 16, which will take place at Dansateliers. Lunch is not provided, so bring anything you would like to eat for both days. We will make sure some bread and spreads are available to snack on.
