Dancing Museums

Dancing Museums (2015-2017) is a European project that facilitated a cross-over between contemporary dance and fine arts within a museum context. During the project five dance artists, selected by the affiliated dancehouses, embarked upon a two-year research and development trajectory. Goal of the project was to highlight the role live performance can play within a museum context and to find new ways for audience-engagement in order to deepend the experience of art. After a series of residencies in different acknowledged museums in Europe, Dancing Museums resulted in the special exhibition / event La Cité (éphémère) de la danse in het MAC Val, Museum for Contemporary Art in Paris, France.

Based on an invite by Dansateliers, choreographer Connor Schumacher took part in the project. During the first residency in Rotterdam he co-created with visual artist Luis Rios Zertuche. The video-report below was created by Paul Sixta.
