The Spanish choreographer Natalia de Miguel presents the solo Clara in which a displaced body looking for its lost spirit. The solo is inspired by the book Clara and the gloom by José Carlos Somoza. In the book the human body is literally been put to use as a canvas for the artist. It is transformed into a work of art through the annulment of its personality, its patterns of behaviour and all physical and psychic needs. The body is deprived of everything human: the soul, its features, the ability to cry or to sweat. As both the maker and the performer Natalia is reflecting on values and priorities. How far can you go as an artist but also as a human being in view of the other?
This performance is developed as part of an exchange program between Dansateliers, Rotterdam, NL and Azkuna Zentroa, Bilbao, SP.
