On Saturday 17 March, we organized an unique performance on location, as part of the Moving Futures Festival. At the Pauluskerk – a place that is commited to supporting all people in Rotterdam and surroundings that cannot survive without support – choreographer Guilherme Miotto showed fragments of his performance ‘Even Worse’. The performance was danced by three fascinating dancers from the urban- and contemporary dance field: Shane Boers, Simon Bus and Evangelos Biskas. In the piece the three dancers struggle with individual obsessions and fears. After the performance we asked the audience to leave share their experience with us.
“I did not know where to look, but I did. A lot of chaos, but also support. I found it intens, I needed some time to recover.”
“Life is often overwhelming, but to figure it out we need each other. We are brittle and bulnerable people, but together we need to make the best of it.”
“They were looking for each other, found it sometimes, but there was also a permanent struggle of how these three individuals would form a group together.”
The unique collaboration between the festival and the church, led to and inspiring, and sometimes touching fusion of audience and experiences. After the performance, Amine Mbarki invited the audience to discuss what they had just witnessed. Based on the experiences as well as his own interpretation of the piece, spoken word artist Kay Slice then wrote a personal reflection (Dutch only).

Soms hinkend op één been angstvallig

Mentaal op zoek in een fysieke wereld

Soms op het randje maar nooit buitenspel
Samen haal je het beste uit jezelf
Niet langer meer ophopen opkroppen
Laad op Laat los pfoee wat een opluchting

Soms zijn wij even de weg kwijt ..
