FLUX
still still | Marta & Kim

A practice in embracing a world that never stands still — in getting lost, and finding direction.

How do you find your way when everything keeps changing? In FLUX, three performers search for balance in an unpredictable world. They move between control and chaos, between leading and yielding. Who takes the first step? Who follows? Sometimes they find peace in structure, sometimes space to breathe in the unexpected — or even freedom in the unknown. But just as they think they’ve found their footing, everything shifts again.

FLUX is the latest creation by Marta & Kim. At the intersection of circus and dance, they let bodies speak without words — raw and poetic. It’s an invitation to embrace the complexity of life, to get lost and find direction. Perhaps it’s also an attempt to truly look each other in the eye in these uncertain times.

ABOUT THE MAKERS

“It may sound bold, but Marta & Kim recall the great artist duos like Ulay & Marina Abramović or Yoko Ono & John Lennon — but in the gentler realms of circus and dance.”
– Anette Embrechts on Our Arms Grew Together, ★★★★★ Volkskrant

Marta and Kim-Jomi Alstadsæter met in 2015, drawn together by a shared fascination with movement. They are acclaimed for their poetic, sincere, and sculptural blend of dance and circus. Their work places human connection at the center: how bodies collaborate, communicate, and influence one another. Through intricate partnering and detailed research, they sculpt bodies into a single, living organism. They merge the imagination of circus with the nuance of dance — creating space for authenticity, humanity, and the full spectrum of what it means to be together. Their work is an ongoing dialogue between strength and vulnerability, virtuosity and poetry, instinct and precision, control and surrender. Always approaching creation with curiosity and open questions, they touch on themes that are deeply relatable. With subtlety and clarity, they craft images that speak without words and linger beneath the skin.

Since 2016, Marta & Kim have built a rich body of work blending circus and dance into a poetic dialogue. Their performance ENGEL won the BNG Bank Dance Prize and toured globally with over a hundred shows. FASE (2020) explored social distance and connection; Our Arms Grew Together (2021) began from their own relationship. Another Moment Ago (2023) played with the perception of time, and in MEANDER (2024), they joined forces with Knot on Hands and Felix Zech.

They are currently working on FLUX, premiering on November 6, 2025 at Korzo. Marta & Kim are associate artists at Dansateliers (NL) and closely collaborate with Festival Circolo (NL) and Davvi (NO) — grounding their work firmly in both the Netherlands and Norway.
