At the Nederlandse Dansdagen 2025 in Maastricht, several of our makers, associates, and former associates will be in the spotlight. We are proud to share their projects and new works, which together reflect the richness and diversity of contemporary dance.
From 10 September to 5 October, Marres, House for Contemporary Culture, presents the ongoing performance Gestures as Portals by Amparo González Sola. During her residency, Amparo explores how movement, gestures, and space can open up new forms of meaning and connection. Together with performer Leandro de Souza, she works with dance, video, light, and sound. Each day she creates a score that structures the performance, while visitors are invited to observe, listen, experience visual projections, or engage in simple actions. Gestures as Portals is constantly evolving and reflects a lively process of research.

This season, Sheree Lenting is also featured as a choreographer in DANSLOKAAL 13, the annual talent development project of Conny Janssen Danst. In collaboration with Dansateliers and Korzo, artistic director Conny Janssen selected three makers for this edition: Faizah Grootens, Sheree Lenting, and Andrea Costanzo Martini. Within DANSLOKAAL 13, Sheree develops her own choreographic signature in a professional context where experimentation and collaboration are central. The result is a new work that, alongside the creations of Grootens and Martini, forms part of a diverse and surprising performance. After two try-outs in the intimate setting of HUIS Conny Janssen Danst, DANSLOKAAL 13 will have its national premiere on 4 October during the Nederlandse Dansdagen, followed by a nationwide tour until 15 November.

During the Virtual Residencies of the Dansdagen, interdisciplinary maker Yoko Haveman presents her research project A Tribute to Everything that Breaks. In this work, she explores the relationship between her own body and a digitally animated female figure – a 2D/3D projection that both mirrors and disrupts her choreography. This digital avatar breaks free from traditional narratives and opens new perspectives on what it means to be human. With the support of Dansateliers, the presentation is guided by artistic coordinator Vera Bonder, who leads the audience through Yoko’s creative process using virtual sketches, choreographic documentation, and in-depth conversations.

Finally, the performance Raging Against Various Elements (R.A.V.E.) by ARK/Connor Schumacher will be presented during the Nederlandse Dansdagen. Extra special: the production has been nominated for De Zwaan 2025 for most impressive dance production. We are extremely proud of Connor and the entire ARK team for making this possible.
