The performance Raging Against Various Elements by ARK/Connor Schumacher has been nominated for the prestigious Zwaan Award for Most Impressive Dance Production 2025 – and we at Dansateliers are proud of this incredible team.
About ARK/Connor Schumacher
Founded in 2014, ARK/Connor Schumacher is a Rotterdam-based dance organization focused on social choreography. From theatres to clubs, ARK’s work gets people moving – both physically and mentally.
The jury on the nomination:
“Connor Schumacher touches on many levels with Raging Against Various Elements. The work moves toward a joyful release while sharing a deeply personal sorrow along the way. The way Schumacher communicates with his audience – explicitly inviting them to move and giving voice to lived experiences – is refreshing, connective, and innovative.”
Lovingly referred to as R.A.V.E., the piece celebrates the dancing body and the power of collective movement – in an explosive fusion of jazz dance, club culture, and a nearly living set design by Boris Acket and Elsemarijn Bruijs.
Raging Against Various Elements will also be part of the Dutch Dance Festival (Nederlandse Dansdagen) this fall! From 3 to 9 October, the city of Maastricht transforms into the beating heart of Dutch dance. Expect a week full of top performances, premieres, club nights – and of course, the presentation of the prestigious Zwaan Awards.
