Movement Class Monday June 10th 2024 | Shaquille George

Mon 10 Jun | 20:00

Every Monday evening you can engage with the emerging choreographers connected to Dansateliers. By the use of physical exercises and tasks they will take you along an exploration in improvisation, performance and body-awareness. Professional dancer, amateur or never seen a dancefloor before? No problem, the lesson is open for everyone.

This week’s Movement Class guest teacher is Shaquille George.
Shaquille was born and raised in Curaçao and moved to the Netherlands when he was 18 years old. He started with teaching himself movement of urban origins. After that Shaquille got his degree at Fontys Fine Arts School as an urban contemporary dancer.

After working with various companies and choreographers, he used this as an opportunity to create his own movement language. He focuses on what is called (E)motion ‘Energy in Motion’. He creates by using layers of emotion and topics that he feels that needs to be discussed or explored hoping that this opens a space to have a dialogue.

In 2023, Shaquille was a One Night’s Dance participant and is currently an artist-in-residence working on his new performance, Phantom Harmony.
