Our much appreciated director Kristin de Groot will leave on a short sabbatical starting on May 10th. This past year has been a challenging year for all of us because of the pandemic. On top of that, we were also faced with our business manager Johan Cuperus dropping out completely. To be able to pause for a bit, Kristin will take time to take some rest and create space for reflection.
Kristin: ‘Encouraged and enabled by the board, the team and the artists I am allowed to take time for a short sabbatical. It is a bliss to be able to take a step back and reflect on how I, together with the – since January expanded – team would like to move into the future. Or maybe must move into the future, sensitively responding to the needs of the times we live in, or even try to be ahead of them. I completely trust that these lovely people in the office – Annejon, Aqueene, Carolien, Karina, Merel and Ruben – will take on what they need to take on in my absence to manage all activities planned.”
In the past couple of months, we have worked together on becoming a self managing team and we have given content to what we believe that means to us. The search continues, also in Kristins’ absence, but as a constellation of dedicated professionals collaborating, we choose to work with care and attention for each other, the work, the artists and the public, putting the human, the content and the process at the core.
From September 1st, we will welcome Kristin back in the office. In the meantime, Merel Heering will take on some tasks concerning artistic matters, whilst Ruben Cieremans will take on the financial matters.
We wish Kristin a lovely, well deserved time off.
Warm wishes from the Dansateliers team.
