Tabea Martin (1978) is an independent choreographer and performer based in Basel, Switzerland. She studied Modern Dance at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam as well as choreography at the Rotterdamse Dansacademy. In 2008 she was invited to take part in the International project ChoreoRoamEurope. Under the umbrella of Dansateliers she created a.o. Duet for two dancers (2010), a co-production with Conny Janssen as part of Brand New and Out Of Proportion (2011) with Nina Glockner and Jelte van Andel. In 2011 she won the Wim Barry Stipendia Prize of the Prins Bernhard Culture Foundation. Her piece Duet for two dancers was selected for Aerowaves in 2013 and received the Reconnaissance, Échirolles prize. The production has been touring extensively around the globe.
In her work Tabea ask herself social political questions. She studies human behavior in different circumstances. With her work she puts the focus on getting lost, the not-knowing and sadeness that is hidden inside the body.
