Sigrid Stigsdatter Mathiassen (1990, DM) is a choreographer, performer and vocalist. She completed her studies at the SNDO (School for New Dance Development – AHK) with the solo Remembrane. As a maker Sigrid uses both words and movement as a tool to blur the boundaries between reality and imagination. In 2018, Sigrid developed a new work in residence with Dansmakers Amsterdam, Dansateliers, DansBrabant and De Nieuwe Oost as part of the Moving Forward Trajectory. In 2019 she toured with her work Hope & Heavy Metal as a part of the Moving Futures Festival.
Her new performance Cold Hawaii was due to premiere during the opening of the Moving Futures Festival in Rotterdam in 2020. Corona’s arrival prevented this. Cold Hawaii premiered as an online performance during the Moving Futures Festival in 2021 and went live during the Nederlandse Dansdagen (Dutch Dance Days) that same year. Cold Hawaii was selected as one of the Aerowaves Twenty22, an important springboard for a new generation of dance artists. Cold Hawaii will be presented as part of the annual festival Spring Forward, where all twenty selected works will be presented. Spring Forward is due to happen end of April in 2022 in Elefsina, Greece.
