Love-ism (2013) is a project by choreographer Mor Shani in close collaboration with filmmaker Paul Sixta. For Love-ism Shani and Sixta explored the human experience of intimacy. The project resulted into a stage-piece, a series of duets and the film Love-ism | Things That Matter.
Love-ism is inspired by the book “The Art of Loving” by Erich Fromm. The makers take a closer look at the human experience of intimacy, challenging the perception and liquidity of the agreed upon, the sublime and the condemned. They seek for that particular moment when supreme ideas about love like care, mutuality and dependency stop being sacred and become sinful, and they wonder what it is that distinguishes one kind of love from another.
