The year 2019 went by so fast! With happiness and joy we look back on a lot of beautiful things that happened in the house. We were so proud when both Marta & Kim and Connor Schumacher were nominated for the Prize of the Dutch Dance Festival back in May. And how special it was when Connor was actually awarded with the Prize in October. A reward for the seven years he has worked with Dansateliers.
And more has happened! In June we closed of our twentyfifth anniversary with two beautiful and (more than) sold out evenings in Theater Rotterdam. We kicked of the new season with the premiere of Funny Soft Happy & The Opposite by Connor Schumacher, which is touring again in January. Choreographer Ingrid Berger Myhre started her residencies for Dancing Museums II, a project in collaboration with Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and a variety of European partners. We ended 2019 with eight almost sold out One Night’s Dance performances in our brand new Theatre Studio on the ground floor. Our business manager Johan and so many others have worked very hard on this, and we are so, so happy with the result!
We are also looking forward to 2020. In January, both Marta & Kim and Connor Schumacher will be back touring with Engel (Marta & Kim) and Funny Soft Happy & The Opposite. Don’t miss it!
We are also working towards the Moving Futures Festival, with new work from four national dancehouses. Moving Futures will tour across the country and can be experienced in ten cities. The kick-off will be in Rotterdam from 20-22 March 2020. As part of the festival, an international EDN-atelier on dramaturgy will take place, in which professionals from all
over Europe gather to dive into the topic of dance dramaturgy.
Last but not least, don’t miss the premiere of In Other Words by Ingrid Berger Myhre, which can be seen during SPRING Festival for Performing Arts in Utrecht in May.
For now, we wish you wonderful holidays and hope to see you back in 2020!
