Open Call: One Night’s Dance

Apply for this year’s edition of One Night’s Dance!

One Night’s Dance is Dansateliers’ annual start up project for early career dance makers. It facilitates a learning trajectory and offers a great opportunity to create a small work in a compact period of time. Dansateliers will provide workshops, coaching, shared feedback sessions and eight presentation moments.

Out of the applications ten makers are selected (May 25) to  take part in the two day selection workshop on June 21st and 22nd. Out of the ten, five makers will be selected (June 29) to take part in One Night’s Dance 2018 starting from October 22nd. On December 6-9 & 13-16 the works will be presented in a combined program in Dansateliers studio, Rotterdam.

Program overview

The first week is a touch base workshop-week., in which you will be working with dramaturges Merel Heering and Konstantina Georgelou unfolding your concept and looking into possibilities of translating that physically. On the third day of that week your dancers are required. From there on, rehearsals will be planned according to availability.  Part of the program is a joint halfway feedback day, where your dancers are required as well. Technician/light designer Edwin van Steenbergen, will help you create a proper lightplan. The selection committee consists of director Kristin de Groot choreographer Giulio D’Anna and dramaturge and coordinator of the trajectory Merel Heering. On December 6-9 & 13-16 the works will be presented in a combined program in Dansateliers studio, Rotterdam.
