Join us for the third Movement Class XL on Sunday November 4th in Dansateliers. The makers that will teach the class are: choreographer Ingrid Berger Myhre and composer Lasse Passage Nøsted. The Movement Classes XL are specially constructed around Dansateliers’ 25th anniversary and are taught by different choreographers connected to the house. The class is an in-depth introduction to the movement material and working methods of the dance-artists. By the use of physical exercises and tasks they will take you along an exploration in improvisation, performance and body-awareness. Professional dancer, amateur or never seen a dancefloor before? No problem, the lesson is open for everyone.
what is the concept of your movement class xl?
In this workshop we will look at a series of scores that can tell us something about the poetics in the intersection of dance and language. We will discuss ways of seeing a dance and ways to describe it. What are the losses and gains when the two interact? We will also play some collective and relational games in which architecture and scaffolding of being together provides the choreographic structures.
what else will be explored?
We will also experiment and discuss some more recently openened issues in our current collaboration in regards to the (conventional) relationship between music and dance. What are the possible ways the two disciplines can interact and why do we perceive some more functional than others?
what can we expect as participants?
The participants can expect a playful atmosphere where the dfferent activities proposed resemble games more than exercises. They can expect scores that provide agency and stimulate creativity in an open form manner. The things we will be doing together have no absolute solution, but are meant to encourage reflection and sharing within the community present.
what do you think we will gain from this class?
In this way, the participant will gain insight to free movement through open scores as well as specific knowledge and reflection around the topics proposed. Overall, the class will provide a range of practical and theoretical experiences, a dynamic learning space through movement, thought, language and music.
