Maurice Causey is an American born, European based dance artist who began studying ballet at the age of 15. He was a soloist dancer for eight years with William Forsythe’s Frankfurt Ballet and danced with i.a. the Cleveland Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, and Gothenburg Ballet in Sweden. Maurice has been Ballet Master for both the Royal Swedish Ballet (2002-2003) and The Netherlands Dance Theatre 1 (2004-2010) and has been a guest teacher for companies such as the Norwegian National Ballet, Cullberg Ballet, NDT 1 and 2, Royal Swedish Ballet, Norwegian Institute of the Arts and Dansateliers. As a teacher he gives workshops of creative and choreographic movement and teaches Forsythe’s improvisation. His professional ballet classes focus on the individual dancer and how they can use the techniques to advance their craft. It’s a collaboration, and encouragement is paramount.
